Student Spotlight: Kierra Simmons
MBA student Kierra Simmons is the VP of development for the MBA Association
What are you studying and why?
I’m getting an MBA with a focus on marketing and supply chain management. I chose this field because I’d like to go into corporate real estate, and marketability and logistics play a huge role in the decision-making process of that particular career.
What has been one of your best b-school experiences?
My best experience thus far has been meeting great people, both in and out of the program.
What is something that has really impacted your b-school career?
I currently am a graduate assistant with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Education Center (SAPEC), real estate agent, wife and mother, so the reliability and flexibility within the program is great! Very often you’re met with rigid expectations, but at KU, the administration and professors do their best to help you be successful. Everyone here is truly invested in the program, and that’s the difference.
What programs or groups are you involved in at the School of Business?
I am the VP of development for the MBA Association (MBAA), a member of the HR Club and would like to get into the Marketing Club!
What’s the one piece of advice you received at the b-school that you will take with you everywhere?
You are responsible for your learning, and with that, it’s your responsibility to never stop learning. Read or explore in any way that you can, but never stop learning.
