What to expect from an advising appointment with Business Career Services
It can be difficult for students to navigate the business school and all of its complicated obligations. Students often wonder, “Where will I find a job?,” “Am I setting myself up for success?,” or “Is this major right for me?” Advisors at Business Career Services can help you answer these questions and many more.
By providing individualized guidance based on your needs, BCS can assist you no matter where you are in your business degree. Whether you are a first-year student conflicted about which business major to choose, an older student searching for an internship, or you’re about to graduate from the business school and need advice about managing multiple employment offers, BCS can assist you!

All of the career advisors who see students in appointments have degrees in counseling, education or related fields. These advisors genuinely care about their students and want them to not only find a job, but find a career that makes them happy.
When can I meet with someone?
BCS is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for appointments. Appointments can be made online through HireJayhawks.com or in person at BCS desk.
Walk in hours are Monday through Thursday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. but these meetings are limited to 15 minutes or less.
Where are they located?
Business Career Services is located in 1130 Capitol Federal Hall.
What should students do beforehand to prepare?
Not much preparation is required but, in order to have the most successful meeting possible, come in with an idea of what you would like to discuss.
If you plan to have an advisor review your resume or cover letter, a draft is always recommended.
